Parking in Wells
Wells has a variety of parking in and just around the city centre. Being a small city most parking is within a 10 minute walk of the venue. Street parking in Wells is generally free after 6pm and on Sundays, just avoid yellow lines. There are some useful sites to help navigate the parking options in Wells. Parkopedia is a great starting point to identify parking options. The main car parks in the centre are:
- Union Street Car Park - BA5 2PU (just off High Street)
- Tucker Street Car Park - BA5 1TF (just off Strawberry Way ring road)
- Princes Road Car Park - BA5 1TE (next to the Bus Station)
- South Street Car Park - BA5 1SL (behind the Town Hall/High Street)
- Just Park/Peacocks car park - opposite the South Street car park and £5/day
- Waitrose Car Park - BA5 2PJ. £6.50/day but closes when the store closes at 8pm
- Morrisons Car Park - BA5 1SQ This is only £2/day but you book online at ECP website or app using the location code 682548
- Palace Fields Saturday parking - This is off the top of Silver Street in Wells adjacent to the Bishops Palace and a short walk to the Town Hall. It charges £5/day on Saturdays. There is signage up on the day.
The first 4 are Somerset Council run sites. Tucker Street and Princes Road are all day so work best for Saturday. They are about £3.40 and £7.80 a day respectively but Tucker Street is smaller and further away. Union Street and South Street are short term but do not charge after 6pm so would be good for Friday evening.
Road Trip Heroes is a useful site detailing the free parking options in and around Wells. It was last updated in August 2023 so should be fairly up to date.
There is also a YourParkingSpace App that can help you find and pay for parking in advance. Details on how to do this are on a Bishops Palace guide.
We would recommend:
- Friday evening use 1, 4 or street parking.
- Saturday use 2,5,7 or 8
- Sunday use 7, 5, 2 or street parking where available.
